Song Review:

Deep In The Heart Of Texas

Overall Impression:

Nolan Bruce Allen has released his fantastic version of Deep In The Heart of Texas. Opening with infectious energy, wind players take the melody on a wild ride while the rhythm section keeps the tune on solid ground. The band trades off solos, all of which are expertly executed with style and ease. Starting with a pedal steel and piano, the solos make up the majority of the tune and showcase the high level of musicianship in NBA's band. Allen sings with a strong presence, clear enunciation, and a tone reminiscent of Ol' Blue Eyes. The back up vocalists have a warm, inviting tone, and chime in at all the right times. Avoiding the gimmickry found in other versions of the tune, Allen instead chooses to let the musicians shine through. All in all, Nolan Bruce Allen has created yet another gem with this version of Deep In The Heart of Texas.

Strongest Point(s):

The fine musicianship from the band and rhythm section deserves recognition, and the high recording quality should be noted
